Katsioulas Theodosis

Automation Engineer, MSc

Mr. Theodosios Katsioulas graduated from the School of Automation Engineering at the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki in 2001 with a grade of 7.6 and received a scholarship from the IKY Foundation. From 1999 to 2001, he served as a teacher at a secondary education tutoring center, where he taught computer literacy, Microsoft Office suite, and programming languages such as C, QBasic, and Visual Basic. He was also responsible for supervising thesis projects for graduates of the automation department.


From 2001 to 2007, he worked at TECHNECO, later renamed HELLECTRON in 2005, where he served as the head of the automation department. His areas of expertise included the design, development, installation, and commissioning of automation systems, as well as training department personnel.


From 2002 to 2007, he worked as an adjunct professor at the Department of Automation Engineering at the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. He taught courses in automatic control systems I/II, simulation of control systems using Matlab, digital signal processing, and programming in C and C++. From 2019 to 2020, he returned as a professor in a laboratory focusing on PLCs.


Since 2007, he has owned an individual enterprise, which was converted into a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in 2012 and an Incubator Company of Innovative Entrepreneurship (IKE) in 2018. This company is now known as P.L.Automation. From its establishment until today, the company's areas of operation include automation systems in industries, biological treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, water purification plants, pumping stations, drying units, Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems for production units, automation in road arteries with tunnels, processing and cutting machines, telemetry, instrument calibration, production data logging, robotic systems, industrial boilers, and steam generators.


From 2020 to 2022, he attended and completed the Master's program at the International Hellenic University with a focus on "Applied Automation Systems."


His expertise in specialized automation software includes:

  • Step 5: Programming environment for Siemens S5 controllers in DOS, discontinued since 1993

  • Microwin, Step7, TIA for programming modern Siemens controllers

  • Protool, WinCCFlexible, Wincc, InTouch, Movicon, Zenon for visualization (Monitoring) and control (SCADA) programming of automation systems

  • H-Systems toolbox for developing systems in applications with high security requirements (e.g., drying units and highways)

  • FH-Systems toolbox for developing systems in applications with the highest security requirements (e.g., refineries) under specialized protocols (fail-safe & redundancy)

  • Sinaut toolbox for continuous communication between control stations applying redundancy topology in communications (e.g., fiber optic & GPRS combination)

  • DNP3 toolbox for continuous communication between control stations applying redundancy topology in communications (e.g., fiber optic & GPRS combination)
